Breede River Marathon Newsletter – No 2 September 2010

Here are some final bits of information for you before you take on the 2010 BREEDE RIVER MARATHON.

The 2010 Breede is the "YEAR of the SECONDS"

Please make a big of a fuss over your seconds this year in appreciation, cause without them our sport would be filled with loads more unwanted admin.
The winning crew in each category are encouraged to bring their second up to the podium with them for a small gift from Van Loveren.
There will be some awesome lucky draws for the seconds as well.
See attached day 1 and 2 race and seconds maps. Please print these for your seconds.

We are doing away with the registration process to reduces the need for any extra travelling (as requested by you).
There will be NO registration at Peninsula Canoe Club (Tuesday), Milnerton Canoe Club (Wednesday) or in Bonnievale (Friday).
Merchandise will be available for collection at Riggton River Farm at the end of day 1. Any additional info you may need should be on the web or contact us.

What to expect:

DAY 1 START:

Try to arrive with some time to spare!
Check into your batches as soon as you can lest you get caught up in the last minute traffic jam.
The safety briefing will be at 09h30
The first batch starts at 10h00

DAY 1 FINISH

There will be a marked boat pound for you to leave you boat overnight.

DAY 2 START

Access to the water is limited so make sure you get in early!!
The safety briefing will be at 08h30
The elapse times starts at 09h00
Batches will be sent via sms on Saturday evening

NOTE: This is a licensed venue and you are requested not to bring your own alcohol but to purchase it from the bar.

The finish line will be between two white buoys and has been moved a bit further downstream.
Prize giving will be under the Bedouin tent between the bar and the food hall as close to 14h00 as possible.
